Skillswest was established in 1989 to provide training in the Metal Fabrication / Fitting Machining, Sheetmetal, Electrical and Motor Vehicle trades, as well as fee-for-service and Government labour market programmes. Over the years its role expanded to cover Carpentry, Bricklaying and Power Linesman, Jobskills and Jobtrain programmes, pre-vocational training, work for the dole, vocational training for Years 11 and 12 students, commercial work and facilities hire.
